Systems

I work with technology on various levels on a day to day basis, and therefore can offer systems support on a freelance basis in many different areas. Previously, I've worked on films such as Die Another Day, Thunderbirds, Troy, and three of the Harry Potter movies while at Framestore-CFC. As a Systems Analyst at BR&Me I rolled out a new IMAP mail server, various wikis and other new initiatives, and provided systems support for forty Apple Mac users and their servers.

More recently, I have been working both in office and on location in multiple capacities for Imagination, one of the world's largest full service design agencies, who work out of offices in various major cities worldwide. In addition to standardising their Macintosh hardware and software builds, and being the main point of contact for all enquiries relating to Apple technology, I have been building the award winning Ford VJ system with a team of multimedia and technical experts at motorshows around the world. More details on that can be found in PDF format here, at Toby Harris' site.

I am an expert with Macintosh hardware and software, and also have experience with PC hardware, all flavours of Windows, and Unix (particularly FreeBSD). Other creative hardware, bespoke or off the shelf, comes naturally.

My daily rate for Systems is £250 for up to eight hours, although I would be happy to negotiate an hourly rate around similar figures. I am currently booked out, but am available evenings and weekends for work in Brighton, Hove, and the surrounding areas. Some London work may be possible; please get in touch via the contact page for any further information.

Training

I provide training in evenings and weekends to users who would like to know how to get more out of their home PCs, whether Apple or Windows based. My rates for this are £25 per hour, and I'm flexible about meeting points. Primarily, at the moment, I train people in Brighton and Hove, but can also arrange certain times in London, if they fit around my visits to the smoke.

If you think you'd benefit from learning more about your computer's capabilities, or you'd like to learn how to use new software or technology, then again, please get in touch via the contact page for more information, or to arrange a session.
